Arrested and unsuccessfully tried for practicing medicine without license, 1914
Took a firm stand by saying to the newspapers, "I have a legal right to
practice my profession in Kansas, and I propose to do so."

1921 - B. J. Palmer, D.C., Ph.C.
Davenport, IA

One of the 9 original founders of the KCA on January 28, 1911
Returned to Kansas several times to testify on behalf of doctors of chiropractic who were being prosecuted for practicing medicine.
Held one of the first meetings for state licensing board members which
was attended by Kansas board members Drs. Anna Foy and H. A. Post, 1919.
World renown chiropractic leader who often attended and spoke at KCA conventions.

1922 - T. F. Ratledge, D.C.
Arkansas City

Early lobbyist who assisted in obtaining the Kansas licensing law
Founder of the Ratledge Chiropractic College in Arkansas City, 1909
Founder of the Ratledge Chiropractic College in Topeka, 1914
Arrested in California for practicing without a license, 1914
Instrumental in the passage by referendum of the California licensing law, 1922
Insisted on going to jail rather than accept guilt for what was alleged to
be the practice of medicine.
Founder of the Ratledge Chiropractic College in Los Angeles which was
relinquished to Carl Cleveland Sr., 1951.
Admitted to practice in Arkansas by a special exemption granted by the governor, 1963
