KCA recognizes doctors in the field of chiropractic who have contributed to the profession in outstanding ways.
 

KCA Doctor of the Year Award

This award is presented to a Kansas Doctor of Chiropractic who has made outstanding contributions to the field of Chiropractic. Nominations are made by the KCA Board of Directors and Officers, KCA district officers, committee chairs, and chiropractic members of the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. KCA members select the recipient via ballot vote. The recipient is recognized at the KCA Fall Convention with an engraved plaque, and with a permanent plaque hung at the KCA Office in Topeka.

2017 KCA Doctor of the Year
John Wheeler, DC, Wichita

 

Dr. Wheeler graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in 1995, and is a Fellow of the Acupuncture Society of America. Dr. Wheeler has been a member of KCA since 1996 and was the 1998 KCA Young Doctor of the Year recipient. He celebrated 21 years in practice in September 2016. He currently serves on the KCA Board of Directors as the director for the Sedgwick District, and is a member of the KCA education, and nominating committees. Dr. Wheeler also served on the KCA board from 1999-2003, and chaired the KCA Medicare committee. He is a member of both the American Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractors Association, is a past editorial board member and past contributing author for The American Chiropractor magazine, and served as the Kansas chiropractic representative to the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee from 1999 to 2005.

Dr. Darrell Fore Young Doctor of the Year Award

This award is presented to a Kansas Doctor of Chiropractic who has made outstanding contributions to the field of Chiropractic within the first few years of practice. Nominations are gathered by the KCA President from the KCA Board of Directors and Officers, and any other KCA members as needed. The President considers all nominations, then selects a recipient for approval by the board of directors. The recipient is recognized at the KCA Fall Convention with an engraved plaque, and with a permanent plaque hung at the KCA Office in Topeka.

2017 Young Doctor of the Year
Dr. Brian Asbury, DC, Wichita

 

Dr. Asbury is a graduate of Cleveland University – Kansas City, where he was an active member of the Student American Chiropractic Association, and attended the annual KCA Metro district Legislative Dinners to network and build relationships with lawmakers. Dr. Asbury has his practice here in Wichita, and recently took on the Chair of the KCA Legislative Committee. He has been an enthusiastic and effective committee leader, and works closely with Dr. Oller, KCA’s lobbyist. Dr. Asbury also serves as KCA’s go to person when doctors want to know more about the ChiroHealthUSA program.
